Given that I could never get the IPSec software to work, I uninstalled it, but the problem remained. My laptop still connects to the printer's ad hoc network, but I can't get access anything that requires communication between the computer and printer (printer status, remaining ink levels, etc.), and every time I attempt to print, the print job hangs for about a minute and I get this message. I bought one of HP's DeskJet 6980 inkjets with wireless built in, and I used to be able to connect and print to it flawlessly for the first few months, but just as soon as I installed this IPSec client for my school's wireless network (I never got the client to work), I couldn't print to my printer wirelessly anymore. Then click on the "Open Print Queue" button. Select the printer you want to take online from the list on the left side of the screen. Go to the Print & Fax control panel under the Hardware category. Mac Instructions - Open System Preferences by clicking on the icon in the Dock. Go to Printer in the menu bar of the pop-up window and uncheck "Use Printer Offline." This action will change the printer from offline to online. A pop-up window detailing all current print jobs will open. Double-click on the icon of the printer you want to change to online. This will open a window with a list of the printers currently set up on your computer.
PC Instructions - Open the Start menu and click on the "Printers and Faxes" icon. To resolve this issue, you will need to change your printer settings from offline to online. However, on occasion, a print command will create an error on the printer and take it offline, which will prevent all future jobs from printing.
Once you have added either a USB or networked printer to your PC or Mac computer, you can begin sending documents to print.
